Kausani is named after Kaushik Muni. It is believed that Kaushik Muni had a hard penance here. Kausani is also a birthplace of famous Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant(1900). The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. it’s believed that the temple was built by Kumaoni Katyuri King in 1150 A.D. it is believed That marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place on the conflux of River Gomti and Garur Ganga, The Baijnath temple is situated on the banks of river Gomti. Apart from the main temple, there is also some famous temple nearby. Inside the temple, there is a beautiful idol of Goddess Parvati. There is a beautiful lake outside the temple. Which is a major tourist attraction here.

Someshwar Temple has located 10 km from Kausani, Someshwar Temple is surrounded by beautiful Someshwar Valley. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that this temple was built by Raja Som Chand in the rule of Chand dynasty. There is a grand fair here on the occasion of Shivratri, There is great recognition among the devotees for this temple. Inside the temple there is a carved statue which is very beautiful to see.

Kausani is a destination which offers something special in each season throughout the year. In the summer, the entire city is full of green, In Summers the weather remains pleasant. If you love to see snowfall then Winters (December to February) is the best time to visit here, Winters is also the best time for honeymooners and couples to visit this romantic place.
In my option, you should avoid visiting here in Monsoon season (July to September) Because in this season the town receives heavy rainfall, Because of rainfall Road can be blocked somewhere. Otherwise, there is nothing to worry about it to visit in Monsoon season.

By Road- Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to Kausani which is 173.3km from town. Taxis and bus are easily available from here to Kausani. Flights from Delhi to Kausani run three days in a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
By Rail- Located 139.4 km from Kausani, Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to Kausani. Kathgodam is well connected with major cities of India Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata. Taxi and bus are easily available to Kausani from here.
By Road- There no direct bus for Kausani, you have to take the bus to Almora(52 km), Ranikhet(58km), Nainital and other cities of Uttarakhand.
