Famous as The Switzerland of India, Kausani is beautiful Hill Station Located in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand Uttarakhand state. In 1929 Mahatma Gandhi visited this place and spent 12 days here then he called Kausani as “Switzerland of India“, From then the beauty of this place has not much changed. Kausani is surrounded by pine trees. Kausani provides a spectacular view of Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchachuli. The town is situated 1890 meters above sea level.

Kausani is named after Kaushik Muni. It is believed that Kaushik Muni had a hard penance here. Kausani is also a birthplace of famous Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant(1900). Apart from the main temple, there is also some famous temple nearby. Inside the temple, there is a beautiful idol of Goddess Parvati. There is a beautiful lake outside the temple. Which is a major tourist attraction here.

Someshwar Temple has located 10 km from Kausani, Someshwar Temple is surrounded by beautiful Someshwar Valley. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that this temple was built by Raja Som Chand in the rule of Chand dynasty. There is a grand fair here on the occasion of Shivratri, There is great recognition among the devotees for this temple. Inside the temple there is a carved statue which is very beautiful to see.

The atmosphere around the temple is very quiet. The Someshwar Temple is most famous place in Kausani. You should visit this temple, here you will find some peace and you can feel the beauty of Nature.

Kausani is a destination which offers something special in each season throughout the year. In the summer, the entire city is full of green, In Summers the weather remains pleasant. If you love to see snowfall then Winters (December to February) is the best time to visit here, Winters is also the best time for honeymooners and couples to visit this romantic place.

In my option, you should avoid visiting here in Monsoon season (July to September) Because in this season the town receives heavy rainfall, Because of rainfall Road can be blocked somewhere. Otherwise, there is nothing to worry about it to visit in Monsoon season.

So now you will be thinking what is the best time to visit Kausani? The answer is simple, from February to May is the Best Time To Visit Kausani. In between these months, the weather remains pleasant you can enjoy snowfall in February.

The maximum temperature of Kausani in summer is 25°C and minimum 11°C. In Monsoon the maximum temperature is 23°C and minimum 11°C. In winters the maximum temperature of town is 10°C and minimum 2°C.

Note- In Winters the temperature can fall below 2 °C. You should take some warm clothes with you when planning to Visit Kausani.

How To Reach Kausani

By Road- Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to Kausani which is 173.3km from town. Taxis and bus are easily available from here to Kausani. Flights from Delhi to Kausani run three days in a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

By Rail- Located 139.4 km from Kausani, Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to Kausani. Kathgodam is well connected with major cities of India Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata. Taxi and bus are easily available to Kausani from here.

By Road- There no direct bus for Kausani, you have to take the bus to Almora(52 km), Ranikhet(58km), Nainital and other cities of Uttarakhand. You take the bus to these cities from Anand Vihar ISBT Delhi and Kashmiri gate ISBT Delhi. From these too ISBT Private transportations are also available to these cities. Kausani is well connected with major cities of Uttarakhand.
