Famous for its tea estates and A haven of peace, Munnar is beautiful Hill Station located in the Idukki district of Kerala State. Munnar is situated 1,600 meters above sea level. The town is famous among tourist for extension of tea plantations, beautiful valleys, breathtaking forest and wildlife. Munnar is the place where three rivers Muthirapuzha, Nallathani and Kundla rivers that are in confluence. This is also the reason why the town got its name Munnar because of the reason for the location of the confluence of these three rivers, Moonu’ means ‘three’ and ‘Aru’ means ‘river’.

Munnar came to be known to the world since the Munnar visit of John Daniel Munro in 1870. A.H. Sharp first started cultivating tea here, the letter then Munnar became Famous for its tea estates. The Weather of Munnar during Summers is up to maximum 35°C and minimum 19°C. In winters the maximum temperature goes too 25°C and minimum 5°C. Munnar is also famous as Honeymoon Destination.

If you like tea and you want to know about tea cultivation and the full process of How tea is made from tea leaves, then you must visit Tea Museum. The Tea Museum was opened on 1 April 2005, You can know the entire History of tea plantation in India in the Museum. You can see machinery used in tea production in the museum. On the entrance of the Museum you can see a sundial here, which is built in 1913 by Art Industrial School. One Can see the classic furniture, iron oven, wooden bathtub, magneto phone in the Museum gallery. There is a demonstration room where all the tea is tested, you can to taste tea here. if you have an interest in learning Tea production then you must visit Tea Museum.

Blossom Park

Blossom Park is a major tourist attraction in Munnar.The Beautifull lush green Blossom Park, its 3 km from Munnar. Blossom Park is full of Natural beauty and beautiful flowers. The park covers a total area of 16 acres. You can see the beautiful view of Muthirapuzha river and kannan devan hills near the Park. The park has artificial waterfalls and lawns. The park is a great place for Nature and Adventure lovers, You Do things like boating, nature walks, bird watching, roller skating, badminton. One can enjoy boating in Muthirapuzha River.Best timing to visit Blossom Park is in the month of December to February. the park also provides campfire with music playing in the background. Attukal Waterfalls

Munnar is an ideal destination for any season in the year. But during the August to May season is the best time to Visit Munnar, During this monsoon season temperature remains calm and clean and the town Covered with lush green foliage. in this season The temperature remains maximum 30°C and minimum 18C.

Winter season is the best time for honeymoon and trekking. The minimum temperature during Winters the can be drop to 10°C, you should take some warm clothes with you when planning a trip here in Winters. In Summer season weather remains pleasant the temperature temperatures range between 19°C and 35°C.

How To Reach Munnar

By Air- The Nearest Airport from Munnar is Cochin International airport which is 125 km from Munnar. Taxi and bus are easily available from Cochin airport to Munnar. Cochin International airport is well connected with major cities of India.

By Rail- Aluva is the nearest Railway station which is 110kms away from Munnar. There are another two Railway stations which are near to Munnar Ernakulam (110kms) and Madurai (130 km) Railway station also near to Munnar. Aluva, Ernakulam and Madurai Railway stations are well connected with cities like Delhi, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Mangalore, Bangalore and other major cities of India.

By Road- There is no direct bus from some cities of India like Delhi and other. You have to take a flight to Cochin and train to Aluva, Ernakulam and Madurai Railway stations for coming here. From Cochin and Aluva, Ernakulam and Madurai bus are easily available to Munnar. The bus journey is the best way to explore the beauty of Munnar.
