Uttarakhand also known as the ‘Dev Bhumi’ it’s mean ‘Land of God’. Uttarakhand became the 27th state of India on 9th November 2000. Uttarakhand is a very beautiful and quiet tourism center. The original name of this state was Uttaranchal which was changed to Uttarakhand in January 2007.

The Kumbh Mela is one of the few important festivals of Hinduism. In Uttarakhand, Kumbh Mela is celebrated in Haridwar and Prayag every twelve years. Millions of people visit Kumbh fair. Aradh kumbh is celebrated every six years. It is believed that at the time of Kumbh Mela holy dip in the river Ganga gives liberation from all sins.
Shravanani Mela is held for one month in Shravan every year in Jageshwar Dham (Almora). In the 12-13th Century Jashwaswar temple, On occasion, women pray for the ghee lamp in the hands of the night for getting the children and seek blessings for the desires. During this time, Dhol-Nagar, the dancer of the villager’s dances at the sweet luncheon of the hunkie, and folk artists perform their art.
Nanda Devi Mela
Nandadevi Mela starts in many areas of the state from the Panchami of Bhadra Shukla pashk for the worship of Nanda Devi, the daughter of the Himalayas. A big fair is held on this day at the Nanda Devi Parishad of Almora (Almora). Statue of Nanda-Sunanda is prepared on Kalkhima on the Panchami day and on the eighth day, idol worship is done.
Tapkeshwar mela is celebrated on the banks of River Dhari Devi, Dehradun. The temple is located in the cave, The recognition of this temple is far away. It is believed that on the Shivlinga located in the temple, the water is dripping automatically.
